1. settling in
     -to become familiar with somewhere new, such as a new housejob, or school, and to feel comfortable and happy there

2. the scoop
    -the latest information about someone or something, especially details that are not generally known

3. take a rain check
    -to refuse an offer or invitation but say that you might accept it later

4. keep to myself
     -to spend time alone, not talking to other people very much

5. appointing
     -to choose someone officially for a job or responsibility

6. social secretary
     -the person who organizes social activities for an organization or for another person

7. sort sth/sb out
     -to deal successfully with a problem, a situation, or a person who is having difficulties

8. fend off
     -to push or send away an attacker or other unwanted person

9. reputation
    -the opinion that people have about what someone or something is like, based on what has happened in the past

10. busybody
       -a person who is too interested in what other people are doing
